What is this study about?


This study is about the working of the National Education Policy of India (2020) with respect to issues of gender equality in the domain of higher education in India. It will entail creating a social and learning profile of student populations, particularly women, from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, along with identifying their challenges and opportunities. We will undertake policy analysis with various stakeholders on the implementation of the National Education Policy, 2020, as well as build a gender equality audit framework for national implementation as part of the research. The project's goal is to identify the elements that influence access, retention, campus atmosphere, and institutional and curricular practices in higher education institutions, as well as curate best practices to promote gender equality. This research will take place between 2021 and 2023. It will comprise online surveys, in-depth interviews, and action research with students and faculty from ten higher education institutes across Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The report of this research study will be available at the office of the Department of Women and Gender Studies of Savitribai Phule Pune University after completion of this study in 2023.
