Debjani Roy, Associate Professor, is currently heading the Postgraduate Department of Geography, Nirmala College, Ranchi University, Ranchi. She has done her graduation in Geography from Lady Brabourne College, Calcutta and her Masters and PhD from Calcutta University. She has been a National Scholar throughout.. She has more than twenty-one years of experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has published twenty-five papers in various national and international journals and contributed half a dozen chapters to several books on urban, resource, population and environmental geography. She has authored two reference books, namely, Population Geography for final year graduate students and Geography of Jharkhand – Land, Economy and People as per CBCS syllabus. She has also edited two books, namely, Development and Conflict and Environmental Degradation-Challenges and Remedies. She has convened two UGC-ICSSR sponsored National Seminars (2013, 2015), one RUSA sponsored National Seminar (2016) and one UGC-CPE sponsored National level Workshop on “Research Paper Writing” (2016), one NAAC sponsored National Workshop (2018), UGC-CPE sponsored National Workshop on (2019) and International Conference (2019) in collaboration with CEED a Research Institute affiliated to NITI Aayog, New Delhi. She has presented papers, chaired sessions and been a resource person at several national and international conferences. In August 2016, she presented a paper on female tribal health and also chaired a session at the 33rdInternational Geographical Union Conference held in Beijing. She was awarded with “Award for Academic Excellence” on December, 2018 by CEED (A research institute affiliated to NITI Aayog). She is the Nodal Officer for RUSA(Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyaan) in her College besides being the IQAC Convenor and the CPE Co-ordinator. She is also involved in supervising research work. She is a visiting faculty to the Academic Training Institute (SKIPA) Ranchi and UGC HRD Cat Ranchi, Shimla and Nagpur.
