Sumi Mary Thomas is Head of the Department of History, CMS College, Kottayam, Kerala, Research Guide at MG University and Director of Women's Studies Centre, CMS College, Kottayam. She hails from Kottayam, and her husband runs a book shop. She has two children; her elder son is pursuing B. Tech while the younger is in 12th Standard. She is deeply interested in the challenges that girl students face and is involved in counselling them for the past ten years. Further, gender auditing has been conducted at her campus under the Women's Studies Centre in 2019. Sumi has authored twenty books in History during these years. She is also an executive member of the Kerala History Congress and member of the Indian History Congress. Additionally, she is the Board of studies Chairman at CMS College History Department and Board of studies member of BCM College Kottayam & KE College, Mannanam.
